Aldebol asks about tracking fellows who don't pursue city employment
Aldebol asks if DCAS tracks fellows who don't pursue city jobs; Otar says they don't currently survey those who leave but will look into it.
And you stated that since the program's launch in 2019, over 75% of fellows that have completed the Civil Service Pathways Fellowship transitioned into full-time employment.
Do you track separate data that speaks to how many fellows have successfully completed the fellowship but didn't?
not pursue employment with the city?
And where do you know where those fellows end up?
So we know that for the 78% that participated, that transitioned into a full-time position.
For those that didn't complete the fellowship, they may have gone into another position across city agencies, or they may have left city government completely.
And so that's one of the things that we are looking at and seeing the retention rate for folks that are interested in continuing their government career.
And we're seeing that number increase as we go through the different cohorts.
And what is the annual attrition rate of the Civil Service Pathways program for this current cohort and previous cohorts?
What percent of fellows finish the program?
And what are the main barriers to completion of the program?
So the way the program is set up, it's a two-year program.
So for the cohort that just started this year, normally the attrition would be, and it's just regular employment, right?
As you get into a position, there's opportunities for professional development where a person may not be directly aligned with the vacancy that they're in, or the person may choose to self-select out of the program.
So that's where we'll see the transition, where a person may no longer participate in the program.
But for the programs that have, the cohorts that have completed, we have up to just 76 have transitioned into, 76% have transitioned into a full-time position, where 33%
those who are transferred have reached a permanent status.
So it really depends.
But most of the folks that are participating and complete are going into full-time positions.
