Hanif asks how many New Yorkers contacted MOPD
Hanif asks whether MOPD can share how many people filled out its form or called its phone line. Morig says the phone line is busy but the prior administration did not track calls and MOPD has referred at least 22 alleged discrimination claims to CCHR since July.
Now, are you able to share how many New Yorkers filled out the form or reached MOPD through the phone line, which is separate from the 311 line?
Are you able to share how many constituents contacted MOPD regarding...
We receive quite a few calls.
Our phone line is quite busy.
When I was walking here this morning, our constituent services person was on the phone, and I couldn't say hi or bye.
So we get quite a few phone calls.
In the prior administration, that information was not tracked.
We're currently, we hired a new constituent services person in early July, and we've started to centralize the types of calls we receive.
We receive a wide, diverse range of calls, and so we're looking into centralizing that information and recording it so we have a better understanding of the types of questions and inquiries that we receive.
So we don't have a number to share, unfortunately, today.
But what I can say is that since July,
I don't have that number on hand, but I know that we've at least referred 22 alleged discrimination claims to CCHR.
And then is that similar for the form that you shared about?
Yeah, I mean, sometimes it's a request for the commissioner to speak.
Like, we just have a general contact form on our website, and so those could be anything that anybody wants to reach us for.
