Dinowitz notes most adults may not know city council role

New York City Council · Oct 20, 2026 · starts 2:33:13 · 25 sec

Dinowitz says most adults may also not know what city council does, given low voting rates. He says this reinforces why civic education must start in schools.

Eric Dinowitz

I just whispered to Chair Joseph when you said, you know, most students don't know what city council does.

Eric Dinowitz

I was like, most adults, I think, may not know.

Eric Dinowitz

Eric Dinowitz

But that's why it's so critical we're getting the civic education in our schools and not waiting until people graduate to get a magazine in the mail about civic engagement.
