Chair Brooks-Powers asks whether pregnancy screenings are repeated during detention
Brooks-Powers asks if pregnancy and postpartum screenings occur only at intake. Merrill says screenings occur primarily at intake but can be repeated as clinically indicated, including at subsequent clinic appointments.
Are pregnancy and postpartum screenings conducted only at intake, or are they repeated during detention?
So it would be as clinically indicated.
Primarily it would occur at intake, but of course patients have the right to refuse services as well, so a subsequent clinic appointment could address perinatal needs.
So they're offered even beyond intake?
Yes.
Okay.
What procedures are followed when an individual reports a possible pregnancy after intake?
So at that point, the individual would be referred to the CHS, OBGYN.
We would order labs, vitamins, and then start the coordination process with Elmhurst Hospital.
